Cheryl Bowman from NASA Glenn Research @ Lewis Field was our speaker today. A very interesting topic concerning NASA technology spinoffs that enhance our lives.
Just a few highlights of the information provided. NASA funding is approximately .6% of the US budget. If you take and budget .6% of the average household income it would equate to approximately 73 cents a day for that household. That money can be used to fund research locally which in turn effects industry and job creation in our community.
For more information regarding NASA please visit http://www.nasa.gov/. You can also visit www.sti.nasa.gov/spinoff/database for products developed by NASA that enhance our daily lives. Did you know memory foam used in mattresses and the dust buster, not to mention many medical tests and equipment are all spinoffs of NASA technology we use?
